Upstarts

Joanna Zimnoch is a Dublin-based designer and aspiring art director. For many years now Joanna has been playing the piano, but a few years ago she discovered a passion for design. She graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor Honours degree in Visual Communications from Dublin Institute of Technology. Since graduating she has worked in D-light Studios as Administrative Coordinator and for BLOW Photo platform, learning the ins and outs of the magazine and publishing industry. She has collaborated with a variety of clients who have helped her grow as a freelance designer, nurturing her drive for out of the box thinking. She is always on the lookout for innovative working environments, Upstarts being one of them! As a child, she spent a lot of time in her grandfather’s cobbler’s workshop admiring his ability to find the solution to every problem. She would like to honour his legacy by helping others solve their creative dilemmas, combining her interest in technology with craft and DIY techniques. When she isn’t working, you’ll find Joanna walking in the park, cycling to the beach, helping with Glug Dublin or going to various events such as design and tech meet-ups, conferences or dance, music and theatre festivals.
