Free Market
Free Market, the Irish pavilion at the Biennale Architettura 2018 highlights the generosity, humanity and possibility in the common spaces of Ireland’s market towns. The exhibition examines how the importance and relevance of these spaces has diminished and proposes how they can be reclaimed to once again become integral places of interaction and community.
We worked closely with the pavilion’s architects & curators: Jeffrey Bolhuis, Jo Anne Butler, Miriam Delaney, Tara Kennedy, Laurence Lord and Orla Murphy to develop the exhibition’s identity which is centered around Broderick, a custom typeface designed to reference the shopfront signage of small Irish towns.
The materials generated include identity guidelines, signage, exhibition graphics, a newspaper, a suite of five taxonomies, a website, invitations, video title cards, rubber stamps, tote bags, postcards and aprons.
