Dublin Theatre Festival 2016

Referencing set design and construction for the theme of the 2016 Dublin Theatre Festival allowed us highlight the truly collaborative nature of theatre by showcasing an underrepresented element of the industry. It also allowed us an opportunity explore the concept of designed perspectives which was an appropriate way to emphasise the nuanced craft of set design. Within a functioning theatre, we constructed a set and used anamorphosis to paint the festival’s logo on it so that it would only appear resolved from a fixed point. Choosing to use an image in which the logo remains slightly distorted reinforced the theme of making as a human practice in which imperfection creates character.
The entire process was documented for a motion piece which was used in festival advertising. Along with this we developed an identity framework and a series of communication tools including brochure, posters, show programmes, advertising and website.
