YDA deadline extended
New deadline is January 20th
As we approach the 2017 YDA deadline (now extended to January 20th), 2016 judge Dylan Cotter gives us his thoughts on the awards:
Most advertising awards shows emphasise the primacy of concept, with craft awards feeling by comparison like a kind of consolation prize. That’s why the YDAs matter. Because the craft of filmmaking arguably matters more than it ever has, and that craft deserves a stage of its own.
If you’re young (I can’t find an actual age limit anywhere in the guidelines… so I hereby declare under 44 to be young) and you’re directing or producing film of any kind – shorts, music videos, ads, documentaries – enter early and enter often. It’s the best way possible of getting your work recognised by the wider creative community.
Priority booking to the YDA ceremony on February 23rd is now open to ICAD members. Tickets will go on general release on January 20th.
