Jess Felton Windmill Lane

Jury Chairperson

Jess has many years experience in post-production both in Ireland and overseas, specialising in commercials for a wide range of national and international brands and clients. Jess has exhibited a passion for nurturing new talent from Ireland and further afield. She is also heavily involved with local Commercial committees.

Flaura Atkinson — Editor

International Judge

Flaura is an award winning editor represented by Stitch Editing. Starting her career over a decade ago cutting music videos, she has gone on to work with artists such as Massive Attack, Rudimental, Harry Styles, Ben Howard and Jess Glynne. Flaura received her first ‘Best Edit’ nomination at the UKMVA’s in 2018 for ‘Body’ by Estrons and has gone on to edit award winning commercial work, including the NHS ‘Then, Now, Always’ campaign, which won Silver for Best Editing at the Shots EMEA Awards 2021 and Bronze for Best Editing at the Creative Circle Awards 2021. Flaura has also branched into cutting feature films in recent years, with her second feature ‘COLD’ going onto win 5 Best Editor awards. This includes wins at the LA Independent Women Film Awards, RED Movie Awards, NY Independent Cinema Awards, LA Indie Awards and the Kansas Arthouse Film Festival. COLD has also won several ‘Best Feature’ awards including Best British Feature at the London Independent Film Awards 2022. Flaura has also cut several short films for director Eros Vlahos – ‘Right Place, Wrong Tim’ (2018), ‘Double Tap’ (2019) and ‘Good Boy’ (2023). ‘Right Place, Wrong Tim’ had its World Premiere at Frightfest in 2018 and both it and ‘Double Tap’ gained Official Selection for SXSW Film Festival. ‘Double Tap’ also won Gold for Best Editing at the Kinsale Shark Short Film Awards in 2020. Good Boy is due for release in Autumn 2023. There is always a faint snoring coming from the corner of Flaura’s edit suite, the source is her pug Dink, the laziest dog in the world.

Ivan Fitzpatrick — Chapter

Judge

Currently serving as the Chair of the Screen Composers’ Guild of Ireland, Ivan has been composing & producing, professionally, for TV, advertising & other media since 1996. Notable projects include multiple re-brands for RTE television in Ireland, plus a multitude of programme themes & scores. Advertising campaigns include Guinness, Heineken, Audi, Cadbury, Vodafone, Deutsche Bank, Virgin Media & many more worldwide. Experienced in all types of music production, from orchestral to contemporary, with particular enjoyment of scoring to picture.

Anna Tavlinskaya — Art Director/Production Designer

Judge

Anna Tavlinskaya has worked in the film and television industry for the past twenty years; the last ten of these have been spent as a Production Designer and Art Director. Anna’s career as a Production Designer started from the world known brand commercials, as Coca-Cola, Guerlain, Givenchy, Lacoste, etc. Anna designed, as production designer ‘The Bitter Harvest’, directed by George Mandeluk (historical feature film about holodomor in Ukraine). She was an art director on such amazing film projects as ‘The Death of Stalin’, directed by Armando Lanucci, the psychological drama, detective story ‘Freis land’ by Christian Alvart, starring Felix Kramer and Trystan Putter. Anna has worked on a wide range of projects ranging from futuristic science fiction to drama crime and detective series. Anna has designed and was art director on commercials throughout the world including Swarovski for director, Terence Neale. Recent commercials include Argos, Zewa, Whiskey Grand, AVK, Yakult, Vodafone, Heineken and Lexus, etc. Anna pays precise attention to all stages of the project from budget management, to sketches, to building details, the set design, 3d modelling, plasters … the small final touches details. Filmmaking is love and life…….

Simon Burke VFX Artist

Judge

Simon has an extensive background in animation & visual effects, inhabiting many different creative roles over the years. Initially studying traditional animation, an early adoption of digital techniques saw him working hands-on across various CG disciplines, and in recent years, leading, supervising and directing a variety of award-winning projects. His diverse career has spanned the worlds of both commercials & feature film, resulting in a credit list taking in everything from memorable character-driven tv spots to Marvel & DC superhero epics. While at MPC Film London he oversaw lighting across several sequences of Disney’s epic re-imagining of ‘The Lion King’, which gained Oscar & BAFTA nominations for it’s vfx. Closer to home, a spot for GNI featuring trad-singing canary ‘Tommy McAnairey’, saw him taking up directing and supervising duties, with the project making D&AD’s coveted shortlist for animation. He’s most recently embarked on a new venture with Dublin studio Screen Scene, exploring the powerful and exciting new storytelling possibilities of realtime rendering in Unreal Engine.
