ICAD x D&AD

Supporting Creative Excellence Together

At ICAD our mission is to foster, promote and reward creative excellence in Irish advertising and design. We recognise that a great many of our activities foster and reward but we need to do more to promote our industry and our members. We have a number of activities and initiatives that we’re working on to further promote Irish advertising and design and as part of these efforts we’re delighted to announce our partnership with D&AD.

D&AD is recognised as the leading global organisation for Advertising & Design. Since their foundation in 1962 they have been inspiring a community of creative thinkers by celebrating and stimulating the finest in design and advertising. Founded just a few years after ICAD they have similarly supported creative excellence for over 50 years so there are strong parallels between our two organisations.

Our partnership with D&AD kicks off this year with our participation in the inaugural D&AD Festival, of which more details below. We have been in discussion with D&AD about extending this in the future to enter our top bell winners into the D&AD awards as a benefit of membership and offer discounts on certain D&AD activities to our members. Some of these things will take a little longer to come to fruition but for now we’re delighted to take part in the festival and offer our members a discount on passes.

The inaugural D&AD Festival is the essential event for creative professionals. Featuring more than 150 top global names in design and advertising over three days this April, alongside an exhibition of the world’s best commercial creative work, headline speakers include WPP Founder Sir Martin Sorrell, the White House Creative Director Ashleigh Axios, graphic designer Annie Atkins (Grand Budapest Hotel), Gonzo illustrator Ralph Steadman and fashion designer Sir Paul Smith.

ICAD will be at the festival showcasing last year’s Gold Bell winners, and D&AD are offering 15% off the festival pass price for all ICAD members. We have emailed all of our members a code to enter on checkout – please do call the office for the code if you haven’t received the email.

If you plan to attend get in touch and let us know what you thought of it and please do contribute an article about it to The Bulletin.
