What a great idea for an exhibition in our 50th year! An opportunity to create a snapshot of the best in advertising and design from 1958 right up to now. Word and image expressions across several generations – from Jan de Fouw, Bill Bolger and Gerard Doherty who were among the founding fathers of ICAD all the way to exciting new talents like Noelle Cooper at Unthink and the photographer Matthew Thompson. Art directors, writers, designers, illustrators and photographers have all been asked to create a poster about the powerful effect of an idea. Whether it’s a simple tweak to a much loved convention or a radical rethink, we know that one idea can literally change the world. And ideas are what ICAD is all about.
ICAD50by50 promises to be a unique show and will run from November 4th to 12th in The Original Print Gallery, Temple Bar. Each of the 50 posters will be reproduced in a limited edition of 50 prints each and available to buy at €50.
Exhibition curated by Conor Clarke, Richard Seabrooke and Elaine McDevitt.
