As part of Three’s #TheCallUp campaign Ireland goalkeeper, Darren Randolph, caught seven-year-old, Cathal Byrne, completely off-guard after showing up in the press conference room at the FAI’s National Training Centre in Dublin. Cathal, who lives with a co-ordination disorder known as dyspraxia, is a keen footballer and explained to Randolph that his favourite position is between the sticks. And the Boys in Green fan couldn’t believe his luck when his fellow Wicklow native revealed that he will be leading the Ireland team out at the Aviva Stadium as mascot for this Sunday’s World Cup qualifier against Austria. He was brought to the Aviva Stadium on the pretense that he would watch the team train and see where Martin O’Neill speaks to the press. What Cathal did not expect was to meet the current Ireland and West Ham goalkeeper, and fellow native of Wicklow, Darren Randolph.
