During the Tokyo World Cup in 2019, Ireland’s tournament came to a crushing end when they suffered a heavy defeat to the All Blacks in their highly anticipated Semi-Final showdown. Guinness, being Ireland’s most iconic brand and staunch supporter of the rugby team, decided to show its support for the team after the defeat – and irritation at the All Blacks – by suggesting that the nation take a break from the colour black (and therefore Guinness) and have a pint of one of its competitors, Carlsberg.
