Chewbrew, located on Aungier Street, is Dublin’s first artisan bubble tea shop. Bubble tea is an East Asian drink consisting of fruit or milk tea, with the option to add a variety of toppings, such as chewy tapioca balls, popping boba, and flavoured jellies. These toppings add unusual textures to the drink. Along with the teas, Chewbrew serve ‘Chew Choux’ – choux pastry puffs filled with flavoured custard.

The brand and signage scheme were influenced by a number of elements; the textures in the tea, the pastel palette of KPop, and the neon landscapes of Hong Kong and Tokyo. A series of patterns were designed relating to the textural nature of the product, and an icon style was created. These were then applied across various elements of collateral.

The space needed to be fun and engaging to capture the attention of its 16-25 year old target customer. Chewbrew was to serve as a space younger people to meet and socialise, a space that would add to the experience of the product. With this in mind a suite of exterior and interior feature signs were designed, including a number of custom neon signs, a painted mural inspired by K-Pop song lyrics, and a pillar of colour changing light boxes on the exterior.
