In the lead-up to World Buckfast Day, we got the opportunity to make an ad paying our respects to this notorious tonic wine and its devoted fans.
With the tiny budget of 10K, we decided to risk it all. We created an ad to grab the attention and hearts of our Buckfast fans. Taking our lead from the attitude, irreverence and rebellious nature of Buckfast, we created ONE billboard that appeared to completely miss the mark, showing a situation where you would NEVER have Buckfast.
Creating an in-joke that Buckfast drinkers loved.
The risk paid off. Fans shared, got involved, wrote their own scenarios and applauded the ad for its Buckfast-i-ness. Creating over 3 million impressions, from just one, two-week placement.
