The Headstogether Help-Seeking Initiative

The first of it’s kind, Headstogether is a Help-Seeking Initiative, a teachers guide, with the ambitious aim of promoting open, honest, non-judgemental communication about substance abuse and mental health issues between young people and adults.

Following several research and exploratory sessions with teachers and students, we established the need to create an innovative toolkit to facilitate ease of use in today’s busy classroom environment, whilst further communicating the soul of the initiative; open & inclusive communication.

As such, the teachers manual has been created as a workbook, not a lookbook. Scribble on it, fold corners, highlight sections, interact… with raw tactile stocks evoking the individualism of all, open bind finishing furthering the open, inclusive communicative core, whilst facilitating ease of use with the spread mechanics, the expansive grid system & typographic set enhancing legibility and usability as well as impactful photography and bold colour work assisting with the dispersal of content throughout, all elements come together as a cohesive unit to facilitate engagement.

In addition to the workbook, we created a selection of supporting applications; posters, powerpoint templates, infographic elements, & more. Most importantly for the teachers was the development of the Headstogether website, a portal to access all content, at any time, in any location, to assist with participation, for example the full screen flipbooks in the Teachers Resource Section proved extremely successful within the classroom environment / projections.
